My second day in Osaka dawned bright and full of promise. After a fantastic night's sleep thanks to all the walking in Namba, I was eager to explore Umeda. This area had a different vibe compared to Namba – it felt more sophisticated and modern. Let me tell you all about my Umeda adventure!
Morning Exploration of Umeda and its Massive Underground Mall
After a quick breakfast at the hotel, I headed straight for Umeda. Stepping off the train, I was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the place. An enormous underground shopping arcade stretched out endlessly, like a giant labyrinth. It had everything: clothing stores, cosmetics shops, restaurants, and cafes. I was slightly worried about getting lost, but the variety of things to see was truly captivating. Moreover, the bustling energy of the people from the early morning was impressive. Everyone seemed to be hurrying somewhere, and I could feel the dynamic energy of Osaka life. While exploring, a store selling adorable character goods caught my eye. The cute trinkets were so tempting that I spent quite some time browsing. In the end, I impulsively bought a small plushie.
Riding the Iconic HEP FIVE Ferris Wheel
Having explored the underground, I ascended to street level, where the bright red HEP FIVE Ferris wheel, a Umeda landmark, immediately grabbed my attention. Perched on top of a building, it looked so unique and iconic. Therefore, I decided to go inside the HEP FIVE building and take a ride. While on the Ferris wheel, I could see the entire Osaka cityscape spread out below me. Especially since the weather was clear, the unobstructed views stretching into the distance were magnificent. I also snapped some photos inside the red cabin, creating unforgettable memories. It struck me that riding it with a loved one would be incredibly romantic.
Discovering Delicious Tsukemen at a Local Favorite
After the Ferris wheel ride, my stomach started to rumble. So, I headed to a Tsukemen restaurant that a local had recommended. Tsukemen is a style of ramen where the noodles and broth are served separately; you dip the noodles into the broth before
Breathtaking Night Views from the Umeda Sky Building's Floating Garden
Following lunch, I made my way to the Umeda Sky Building. Its unique design, with two towers connected at the top, was impressive. The main attraction here is the Floating Garden Observatory on the rooftop. I had high expectations for the 360-degree panoramic views of Osaka. After taking the elevator to the top floor, the escalator ride leading to the Floating Garden was quite romantic in itself. Finally, I arrived at the Floating Garden! The night view of Osaka unfolding before my eyes was truly breathtaking. The colorful lights of the city twinkling below looked like scattered jewels. Furthermore, feeling the breeze while admiring the night view was simply the best. Consequently, I understood why the Umeda Sky Building is renowned as a top night view spot in Osaka. I spent a long time lost in the beauty, creating an unforgettable night in Osaka.
Exploring Umeda's Shopping Malls and Saying Farewell
Besides the Umeda Sky Building, Umeda also boasts numerous shopping malls. From large department stores like Hankyu and Hanshin to various select shops, there was plenty to explore. In particular, the shopping malls connected to the underground arcade were so vast that I almost got lost a few times. I browsed through clothes and accessories I had been wanting and even found a few great deals. The delicate and unique designs of Japanese brands were especially delightful. Time flew by as I shopped. After a full day of exploring Umeda, evening arrived. Leaving behind the beautiful night view, my steps back to the hotel were filled with both a sense of fulfillment and anticipation. This is because there were still so many places I wanted to visit and so many delicious things I wanted to eat in Osaka. Therefore, I was already excited about what new charms of Osaka I would discover tomorrow.
