Day 3 of our Okinawa 3-day trip was filled with scenic drives and historical exploration as we visited Kouri Island and Nakijin Castle Ruins. The clear skies and blue seas provided a stunning backdrop for our journey, and the serene castle ruins offered a glimpse into Okinawa's rich history. We hope to share the highlights of this memorable day with you.

Scenic Coastal Drive to Kouri Island

We set off early in the morning towards Kouri Island. Crossing the Kouri Bridge, we were greeted by the breathtaking emerald sea stretching out before us. Upon arrival, Kouri Beach welcomed us with its tranquil atmosphere, clear waters, and soft sands.

Near the beach, we found the famous 'Heart Rock', a natural formation resembling a heart, attracting many visitors. We joined others in capturing photos and creating lasting memories at this romantic spot.

Experiencing History at Nakijin Castle Ruins

In the afternoon, we explored Nakijin Castle Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stone walls and hilltop viewpoints offered panoramic views and a sense of the Ryukyu Kingdom's past. Walking through the ruins, we felt connected to Okinawa's history.

The surrounding flora added to the site's charm, blending nature with historical architecture. The peaceful ambiance provided a perfect setting for reflection and appreciation of the island's heritage.

Dinner at a Local Restaurant and Reflecting on the Day

To conclude our day, we dined at a local restaurant, savoring traditional Okinawan dishes like Soki Soba. The tender meat and rich broth were delightful, and the cozy atmosphere made for an enjoyable meal.

As we returned to our accommodation, the setting sun painted the sky with hues of orange and pink. Reflecting on the day's experiences, we cherished the blend of nature, history, and cuisine that made our third day in Okinawa truly unforgettable.
